This guide includes 264 places.

What's Inside the Guide

Dear Food + Drink Lovers + Off-the Beaten Path Globetrotters,

In this guide you'll find a meticulously curated selection of our favorite places around the world, collected through years of travel and living on multiple continents, with a particular focus on food & beverage + unique experiences.

Ever feel like travel planning is a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack? The goal of this guide is to cut through the noise and rather than provide a laundry list of options to sift through for a single location, calls out not-to-miss experiences around the world.

We're natural winemakers (marzaewine.com) and figure that provides some good insight into our worldview as travellers. To us, travel is largely about food and drink, so restaurants and culinary experiences are front and center in the guide. Great food to us is exactly that --about incredible quality, great people, and enjoyable memories, not about pretense, "authenticity", Instagramability, etc.

We're also big on the outdoors, unique cultural experiences, and generally keeping active and off the beaten path. Our hope is very little of what we'd recommend overlaps with other travel guides you'll come across. We're not trying to reinvent the wheel or plan your whole trip for you, but we hope sharing a bit about some of our favorite places and people around the world can create a highlight or two on whatever trip you're planning next.

We'll keep this guide updated with all of our latest and greatest discoveries. We currently have over 260 recommendations! For now, locations include: London, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England & Wales, Basque Country, Andalucia, Catalonia, Portugal, Boston & New England, Montreal, Toronto, Pacific Northwest, NYC, California, Chicago, Provence, Central Italy, Croatia & Slovenia, Crete, Crete, Nashville, South Carolina, and more!

About the author

Eliot & Katie are the founders of Marzae, Massachusetts' first & only natural winery (marzaewine.com). Food & travel have always played a critical role in their lives, along with the community building that comes from sharing those experiences.  Beyond the regular intrepid travelling & extensive food + bev industry expertise one may expect from natural winemakers, prior to moving back to Boston and starting the winery, they spent a couple years blowing through savings wining & dining across the UK & Europe.
